Though it had been almost 2 years since my husband passed when I began GriefShare, I knew there were pieces of my life that needed this. The program was wonderful and allowed me to work through my issues and especially the anger I had with his passing and to become a stronger person. I am blessed beyond measure to have found Woodland Baptist Church and GriefShare.
It has been such a blessing to experience the spiritual, emotional, and relationship growth I have seen in the G3 Anxiety and Depression group. Seeing God moving in the hearts and lives of others, finding healing from past hurt, and learning to trust in God's promises of peace and grace has been such a wonderful and encouraging experience.
Being in the Depression-Anxiety group encouraged me to share my battle with depression that I've experienced on and off since the passing of my husband over two years ago. Reading the notebook material and associated scripture and discussing it in the group helped me face some issues I had tried to ignore. I began to heal by setting goals and limits toward making better choices physically, mentally, and spiritually, and facing each episode of depression as an opportunity to trust God and not doubt His plan, presence, or love. I was especially reminded throughout the group time that how I respond to what happens to me makes all the difference in my future and my walk with the Lord: "... our adversity not only reveals our character; it shapes it" (p. 52 Depression and Anxiety handbook).
